State Representative Beau Baird of Greencastle recently honored John Hall, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, with the Sagamore of the Wabash award. The ceremony took place in Crawfordsville on Saturday.

"John Hall's remarkable service during both World War II and the Korean War stands as a testament to his profound commitment to our nation," said Baird. "From enduring the hardships of being a prisoner of war to earning a Bronze Star, Hall's service exemplifies the highest ideals of courage and dedication. It's an honor to recognize him with the Sagamore of the Wabash award."

The event also featured U.S. Representative Jim Baird from Indiana, who presented Hall with an official Congressional Record.

Hall's military career is marked by significant achievements. During World War II, he participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was captured as a prisoner of war until liberated by General Patton's army. He later served in the Korean War, where he sustained injuries in combat and received a Bronze Star for his valor.

The Sagamore of the Wabash award dates back to its creation by former Governor Ralph Gates in the 1940s. It represents Indiana's highest civilian honor for individuals who have made substantial contributions to the state.
