On September 24, Ernie Pyle School 90 in Indianapolis experienced a remarkable transformation with the construction of a new playground completed in just one day. The project was made possible through the efforts of the Indianapolis Colts and their community partners.

More than 150 volunteers, including players, cheerleaders, and staff from the Colts, collaborated with Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS), Rebuilding Together Indianapolis, and Sinclair Recreation to complete the project. Additional support came from Lucas Oil Products, Ingredion Inc., Midwest Landscape Industries, Central Indiana Toyota Dealers, Legends Global Merchandise, Republic Services, Meijer, and HotBox Pizza.

This marks the 16th playground built by the Colts and their partners since 2008. The team transformed an empty space into a vibrant area for students to play and connect in less than seven hours.

“Today’s effort goes beyond constructing a playground; it’s about building opportunities for our students to thrive physically, socially, and emotionally,” said IPS Deputy Superintendent Andrew Strope. “This project is a testament to the power of community collaboration and our shared dedication to student well-being.”

Ernie Pyle School 90 is led by Principal Valerie Clark and is recognized as the first National Accredited Paideia School in the Midwest. The school offers a curriculum focused on critical thinking and lifelong learning. The new playground enhances this environment by providing a safe space for students to relax and grow.
