The United States Senate has approved a bipartisan resolution to designate April 20-28, 2024, as National Park Week. This initiative was introduced by Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Steve Daines (R-Mont.), with support from other Senate colleagues.
Senator Young expressed pride in the Indiana Dunes National Park, highlighting it as an example of the diverse landscapes, wildlife, and history offered by national parks across the nation. "Hoosiers are proud of the Indiana Dunes National Park," said Senator Young. "During National Park Week, we celebrate the Indiana Dunes National Park and America’s great outdoors."
Young played a key role in authoring legislation that recognized the Indiana Dunes as the 61st national park in the United States and Indiana's first national park.
