U.S. Senator Todd Young's Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY) Act has been recognized by the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) as part of its 13th annual "No Brainers" list. The NTU is known for advocating responsible tax policies and federal spending reductions, selecting ten bills each year that have bipartisan appeal.

Senator Young expressed his satisfaction with the recognition, stating, “I’m proud that my Yes In My Backyard Act made NTU’s annual ‘No Brainers’ list for Congress to pass. This bill is a common-sense, bipartisan solution that would eliminate barriers to much-needed housing by requiring transparency in local land use, zoning, and housing decisions.”

The YIMBY Act was reintroduced by Senator Young in May with the aim of addressing discriminatory land zoning policies and encouraging localities to reduce regulatory burdens. The legislation seeks to enhance transparency in community development processes and promote inclusive land use policies that accommodate citizens from diverse income levels and backgrounds.

Senator Young initially introduced the YIMBY Act in 2019 and has since reintroduced it alongside Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii in both 2021 and 2023. The act aims to combat the nationwide housing affordability crisis by ensuring localities contribute to making housing more accessible.

In addition to this year's recognition, Senator Young's Emergency Savings Act was included in NTU's 12th Annual "No Brainers" list last year.
