State Representative Kyle Pierce recently honored Anderson native Stephen Hofer with the Sagamore of the Wabash award. The presentation took place before an Indiana University football game in Bloomington. Hofer, known as the "Aviation Attorney to the Stars," is a Los Angeles-based lawyer with expertise in aviation law and a clientele that includes celebrities.

Pierce, who participated in the ceremony, praised Hofer's dedication and service: "Awarding Mr. Hofer the Sagamore of the Wabash recognizes his deep-rooted Hoosier values and commitment to service throughout his life," he said.

After receiving the award, Hofer joined Pierce, his wife Tammy Barr, Governor Eric Holcomb, and Indiana University President Pamela Whitten at IU’s Memorial Stadium to watch Indiana University's victory over the University of Washington.

Hofer is a graduate of Madison Heights High School and Indiana University. He founded Aerlex Law Group and has represented high-profile clients such as Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, and Angelina Jolie. His career began in journalism before transitioning to law after attending Northwestern University School of Law.

Expressing gratitude for receiving the award, Hofer stated: "I’m very honored to receive the Sagamore of the Wabash award and appreciate the traditions it represents." He emphasized how his upbringing in Indiana shaped him: "Even though I live in Beverly Hills, Calif., today, my Indiana roots are still a big part of me."

The Sagamore of the Wabash is a prestigious honor established by former Governor Ralph Gates in the 1940s. It recognizes distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to Indiana.
