The deadline to apply for an Indiana House Republican internship for the 2025 legislative session is approaching, with applications due by October 31. This full-time internship takes place during the spring semester at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, from January to April. Interns will earn $900 biweekly and may receive academic credit through their college or university.
State Rep. Greg Steuerwald (R-Avon) highlighted the benefits of the program: "Many of our interns have used this program to launch careers in government and the private sector," he said. He also noted that students unsure about their career paths could meet industry leaders and explore various prospects through this opportunity.
State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) encouraged college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors to apply online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before the deadline. "Working with lawmakers and legislative staff is a great way to build professional contacts, learn new skills and apply your education in a real-world setting," Thompson stated.
Internships offer additional benefits such as free parking, career development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and eligibility for a competitive $3,000 scholarship toward educational expenses. State Rep. Craig Haggard (R-Mooresville) emphasized that "the skills and networks built during this internship can open doors to great job opportunities."
State Rep. Becky Cash (R-Zionsville) mentioned that students could work in departments related to their studies like legislative operations, policy, and communications. She remarked on the value of paid internships: "Paid internships offering hands-on and rewarding work experiences can be hard to find," she said.
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and must be submitted by October 31.
