Two of Cold Spring School's robotics teams are preparing to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship next month. These elementary school teams advanced to the world championship after performing well at the Indiana Robotics State Championships on March 23 at Lucas Oil Stadium. Seven teams from Cold Spring participated in these championships.
"We are extremely proud of all of our students for their hard work and determination this year," Cody Stipes, chief operating officer for Cold Spring School, stated. "For all seven of our teams to qualify for the state tournament this year was a huge accomplishment, and to have multiple teams represent Cold Spring at the VEX World Robotics Championships is just amazing."
The VEX Robotics World Championship, organized by the Northrop Grumman Foundation and the REC Foundation, will take place from April 25-27 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.
"As we prepare to embark on this thrilling journey to the VEX Robotics World Championship, our entire school will rally behind Team E and Team G, cheering them on as they showcase Cold Spring’s commitment to innovation, teamwork, and excellence on the global stage."
At the state tournament, Team E received the Jack Klein Memorial Judge’s Award. This award honors a former Sidener Academy student who passed away after battling Lymphoma. It is given to a team that demonstrates growth, sportsmanship, and a true love for robotics. Team E was the only elementary team in Indiana to receive this honor, qualifying them for the VEX World Robotics Championship.
Team G received the Innovate Award for having an effective and efficient robot design process. They were also the only elementary team in Indiana to receive this award, securing their place in the VEX World Robotics Championship.
