The deadline for applications to the Indiana House Republican internship program is approaching, with submissions due by October 31. This full-time internship will take place during the spring semester at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, coinciding with the legislative session from January to April.
State Representative Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) highlighted that interns work Monday through Friday and receive $900 biweekly. They can also earn academic credit through their respective colleges or universities. "House internships are a unique way to get a front row seat to how laws are made," Borders stated. He emphasized the opportunity for those interested in government or seeking professional experience.
State Representative Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) encouraged college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors to apply via indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before the deadline. "Our internship program allows students to actively participate in the legislative process and offers valuable experience that can lead to exciting career opportunities," Heaton said.
State Representative Alan Morrison (R-Brazil) noted additional benefits of the internship, including free parking, career development assistance, and access to an Indiana government class. Interns may also apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship for educational expenses. "With opportunities to work in different departments, this internship gives students the chance to align their experience with their academic interests," Morrison explained.
The program offers roles in various departments such as legislative operations, policy, and communications. Applications must be submitted online by October 31.
