The deadline for applications to the Indiana House Republican internship program is approaching, with submissions due by October 31. State Representatives Cindy Ledbetter and Shane Lindauer are encouraging eligible candidates to apply for this opportunity.
Ledbetter explained that the full-time internship will take place during the spring semester at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, running from January to April. Interns will work Monday through Friday and receive a biweekly stipend of $900. Participants may also earn academic credit through their educational institutions.
"The internship program is a great opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in the real world," Ledbetter stated. "Whether you are looking to have a career in politics or are looking for more experience in the workplace, the Statehouse has a great internship program."
Lindauer highlighted that college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates from all majors are encouraged to apply online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before the deadline.
"The intern program provides many benefits including developing job skills such as professionalism and writing," Lindauer noted. "The program offers a behind-the-scenes look at how state government runs and provides networking opportunities with local and state leaders."
Interns will benefit from free parking, career development assistance, and access to an Indiana government class. They can also compete for a $3,000 scholarship applicable toward undergraduate or graduate expenses.
The program allows interns to gain experience in departments related to legislative operations, policy, and communications.
Applications must be submitted by October 31 via indianahouserepublicans.com/internship.
