The deadline to apply for an Indiana House Republican internship for the 2025 legislative session is approaching, as announced by area lawmakers. The application period closes on October 31.

State Representative Karen Engleman (R-Georgetown) highlighted that this full-time internship takes place during the spring semester, from Monday to Friday, at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. The legislative session will run from January to April. Interns will earn $900 biweekly and may receive academic credit through their respective colleges or universities.

"Our internship program helps students gain real-world experience and I love seeing young Hoosiers from southern Indiana working at the Statehouse," Engleman said. "Interns are a valuable resource for legislators and staff, and their hard work and help is always appreciated."

State Representative Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) encouraged college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors to apply by visiting indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before the October 31 deadline.

"Having work experience on your resume can make a huge difference when applying for jobs," Lucas said. "Interning at the Statehouse is a great way for students to learn, get paid and skill up for their future careers."

Representative Chris May (R-Bedford) noted that interns would benefit from free parking, career development assistance, and access to an Indiana government class. They are also eligible to apply for a $3,000 scholarship for educational expenses.

"The Statehouse is a great place for young Hoosiers to kick-start their careers," May said. "These internships are an opportunity for students to work in a fast-paced, professional environment and learn more about how our state government works – making it a great program for all majors."

The internship program provides opportunities across various departments related to legislative operations, policy, and communications.

Applications can be submitted online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship until October 31.
