The deadline for applications to the Indiana House Republican internship program is approaching, with submissions due by October 31. State Representatives Matt Lehman and Lorissa Sweet have highlighted the benefits of this full-time spring semester opportunity at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
Lehman explained that the internship runs from Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which begins in January and ends in April. Interns will receive $900 biweekly and may earn academic credit through their educational institutions. "Interning at the Statehouse gives young Hoosiers the opportunity to develop fundamental skills, which will help them in their future careers," Lehman stated. He emphasized the importance of not missing out on this opportunity as the application deadline nears.
Sweet encouraged college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates from all majors to apply online before October 31. "Students who intern at the Statehouse can use their experience to enhance their resume and make connections that can lead to jobs in state government or the private sector," she said.
The internship program includes free parking, career development assistance, and access to an Indiana government class. Interns are also eligible for a competitive $3,000 scholarship for undergraduate or graduate expenses. The program provides opportunities across various departments such as legislative operations, policy, and communications.
Applications are available on indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and must be submitted by October 31.
