The Indiana House of Representatives is once again offering its Indiana House Republican Internship Program for the upcoming 2025 legislative session. This program is designed to provide college students and recent graduates with an immersive experience in public service, law, communications, and other fields. The internship is open to students from all majors, not just those studying political science.
Each year, the program attracts motivated young individuals from across Indiana who are eager to learn about government operations while serving the state's residents. Interns contribute meaningfully to the legislative process across multiple departments.
Internships are available in several departments, including legislative, communications, and policy. Interns work directly with state representatives, attend committee meetings, assist with research and bill tracking, and help facilitate constituent services. In the communications department, interns draft press releases, schedule media interviews, and create weekly e-newsletters.
The spring semester internship runs from January through April. Interns earn $900 biweekly working full-time at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. College credit is also available.
A key aspect of this experience is mentorship from staff and members of the House. Throughout the legislative session, interns gain insights from seasoned professionals who provide guidance that can benefit them throughout their careers.
Applications for the 2025 program are now open. Eligible students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply by October 31. Applications can be found on the website: indianahouserepublicans.com/house/internship.
"Whether you're studying political science, communications, business or any other field," said a representative of the program, "this internship offers a unique opportunity to explore your interests and develop your professional skills."
