Applications for internships with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, announced State Rep. Wendy McNamara (R-Evansville) on August 21, 2024.
The Indiana House of Representatives provides a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will begin in January and end in April. House interns receive $900 biweekly and work full-time from Monday to Friday.
"A House internship is a tremendous opportunity for young Hoosiers to use the knowledge and skills they learned in the classroom and apply it at the Statehouse," McNamara stated. "Working during a legislative session can really boost an intern's resume."
McNamara, herself a former House intern, mentioned that internships are available to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns benefit from free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university. Additionally, interns can apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship for undergraduate and graduate expenses.
The program allows students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy, and communications. Applications can be submitted online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and must be completed by October 31.
