Madison County legislators have been appointed to serve on interim study committees that will convene throughout the summer and fall to examine policy issues and collaborate on identifying solutions. These committees will hear testimony from the public, experts, and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations for the upcoming budget session in January.

State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) has been appointed chair of the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary. He will also serve on the Interim Study Committee on Corrections and Criminal Code, the Probate Code Study Committee, the Bail and Release Review Commission, and the Indiana Uniform Law Commission.

"These discussions throughout the interim provide lawmakers opportunities to review a variety of proposed policies aimed at improving our court system," said Jeter, an attorney. "This summer and fall, our committee will review Indiana's homeowner association system and explore ways to improve permanency outcomes for children in foster care."

State Rep. Bob Cherry (R-Greenfield) will serve as vice chair of the State Fair Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Budget Committee, Indiana White River State Park Development Commission, and the Interim Study Committee on Fiscal Policy.

"These committees help lawmakers make more informed decisions before the next legislative session," Cherry said. “Major issues facing Hoosiers require continued research and discussions; I'm looking forward to the work we will do with this year's study topics."

State Rep. Kyle Pierce (R-Anderson) has been appointed to serve on the Code Revision Committee and Government Reform Task Force.

State Rep. Elizabeth Rowray (R-Yorktown) will serve as a member of the Indiana Protection and Advocacy Services Commission, Doula Reimbursement Advisory Board, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission.

State Rep. Lori Goss-Reaves (R-Marion) has been appointed to serve on the Indiana Recycling Market Development Board.

The 2024 legislative interim study committee assignments and other legislative appointments for House members can be found online. Committee hearings typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis and can be viewed live on the General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.
