State Representatives Matt Lehman and J.D. Prescott have been appointed to serve on significant House standing committees at the Indiana Statehouse. These appointments are made biennially by the Indiana House Speaker following the November elections and remain effective for the duration of members' two-year terms.

Matt Lehman, who began his first term in 2008, will join the House Insurance Committee, House Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee, and the House Public Policy Committee. "These committees are the starting point in tackling issues that constituents are facing to ensure their voices are heard," Lehman stated. He expressed his anticipation for examining key policy areas impacting his district during the 2025 legislative session, including economic development support and discussions on healthcare access and costs.

J.D. Prescott will be part of the House Ways and Means Committee, House Elections and Apportionment Committee, and the House Judiciary Committee. Prescott emphasized the role of committees in vetting bills through public testimony and amendment considerations. "I'm honored to serve on these important committees and look forward to working with my colleagues to address the critical issues facing our state," Prescott said. He highlighted committee work as foundational to the legislative process.

The Indiana House lawmakers are set to convene at 1:30 p.m. on January 8 for the first day of the 2025 legislative session. Hoosiers can access iga.in.gov for information on legislation, calendars, and viewing committee meetings and sessions.
