State Reps. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) and David Abbott (R-Rome City) have been appointed to serve on interim study committees that will convene throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues and identify potential solutions.
The legislators will hear testimony from the public, various experts, and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the budget session in January.
Judy will participate as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Pension Management Oversight and the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs. Additionally, he will serve on the Indiana Homeland Security Foundation.
"State legislators work year-round to find solutions to problems that are affecting Hoosiers," Judy stated. "Interim study committees allow for collaboration and discussion, which can bring forward new ideas for legislation moving into the coming session."
Abbott has been appointed to the Interim Study Committee on Employment and Labor, as well as the Board of Trustees of the State Museum and Historic Sites Corp.
The 2024 legislative interim study committee assignments and other legislative appointments for House members can be found online. Committee hearings typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis and can be viewed live on the General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.
