State Rep. Lorissa Sweet (R-Wabash) has been appointed to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Government.

Interim committees convene during the summer and fall to examine policy issues and collaborate on potential solutions. These sessions involve testimonies from the public, experts, and stakeholders as legislators prepare bill recommendations for the upcoming budget session in January.

"Interim study committees are a great time for lawmakers to take a deeper dive into various issues and consider solutions that can improve the lives of our constituents," Sweet said. "For this committee, we'll look for ways to improve and streamline state government operations and to ensure taxpayer dollars are being used wisely."

The 2024 legislative interim study committee assignments and other legislative appointments for House members are available online. The list of study committee topics can also be accessed through the same platform. Committee hearings, typically held at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live on the General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.
