State Reps. Dave Hall (R-Norman) and Chris May (R-Bedford) have been appointed to serve on interim study committees, which will convene throughout the summer and fall to examine policy issues and develop solutions.

Legislators will hear testimony from the public, experts, and stakeholders as they prepare bill recommendations for the budget session in January.

Hall will serve on the Interim Study Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications. "Reviewing the state's efforts to ensure widespread and adequate broadband service and a reliable energy grid are important priorities," Hall stated. "Our work will help lawmakers craft more targeted legislation for next year's session."

May will join the Interim Study Committee on Government. "Conversations during the interim provide lawmakers time to study key issues and receive feedback on how we can best address them," May remarked. "As a member of the government study committee, we'll take a closer look at the interstate compacts that Indiana is participating in and determine whether those are still relevant and should continue."

The 2024 legislative interim study committee assignments and other legislative appointments for House members can be found online. Committee hearings typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis and can be viewed live on the General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.

State Rep. Dave Hall represents House District 62, which includes all of Brown County, as well as portions of Monroe and Jackson counties.

State Rep. Chris May represents House District 65, which includes all of Lawrence County, along with parts of Jackson, Orange, and Washington counties.
