State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) has been appointed to chair three significant committees: the Medicaid Oversight Committee, the Health Care Cost Oversight Task Force, and the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health and Human Services.

Interim committees convene during the summer and fall to review policy issues and identify solutions. Legislators will hear testimony from the public, experts, and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the budget session in January.

“As a retired physician, improving public health and access to affordable care has always been a priority, and I look forward to serving on these committees,” Barrett stated. “For the next few months, our committees will study crucial issues that impact Hoosiers in our area and across the state. I look forward to working with others and our constituents to prepare for next year's legislative session.”

In addition to his chair positions, Barrett will serve as a member of the Medicaid Advisory Commission and its Standing Fiscal Subcommittee.

The 2024 legislative interim study committee assignments and other legislative appointments for House members are available online. Committee hearings typically take place at the Statehouse in Indianapolis and can be viewed live on the General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.
