State Reps. Karen Engleman (R-Georgetown) and Chris May (R-Bedford) have been appointed to serve on interim study committees that will convene throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues and develop solutions.
Legislators will gather testimony from the public, experts, and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations for the upcoming budget session in January.
May will participate as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Government. "Conversations during the interim provide lawmakers time to study key issues and receive feedback on how we can best address them," May said. "As a member of the government study committee, we'll take a closer look at the interstate compacts that Indiana is participating in and determine whether those are still relevant and should continue."
Engleman will also serve on the Interim Study Committee on Government and chair the Code Revision Committee. "Summer study committees give legislators an excellent opportunity to identify continuing needs in our state and hear from others on possible solutions," Engleman said. "With state government, it's always important to ensure it's operating efficiently for Hoosiers."
The 2024 legislative interim study committee assignments and other legislative appointments for House members can be found online. Committee hearings, typically held at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live on the General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.
