Indiana is committed to supporting military members and veterans through various assistance programs, including housing support, legal aid, and other essential services. Numerous organizations across the state are dedicated to providing resources to ensure that veterans and active service members receive the care and opportunities they deserve.

The Military Assistance Project offers struggling Hoosier veterans, military members, and their families free legal services. This program specializes in civil cases such as wills, guardianship, document preparation, and more. More information can be found at www.indianalegalservices.org/map/.

Indiana's Military Family Relief Fund assists veterans and their families with expenses related to housing, utilities, food, medical costs, and transportation. Eligibility requirements and applications are available at www.in.gov/dva/about-idva/links/military-family-relief-fund/.

County Veterans Service Offices work in partnership with the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and various veteran service organizations to connect veterans and their families to benefits and assistance. To locate an office nearby, visit www.in.gov/dva/locate-your-cvso/.

For 24/7 confidential crisis support, veterans or their loved ones can dial 988 then press one or send a text to 838255 for the Veterans Crisis Line. Callers do not need to be enrolled in veteran benefits or health care to connect. Additional support is available at veteranscrisisline.net.

With the dedication of numerous organizations, Indiana continues to honor its military community by providing care, resources, and opportunities. Sharing these resources can help increase awareness among service members and veterans who may be struggling. Current or former military members needing assistance with state resources can reach out via email at h54@iga.in.gov or call 317-232-9600.
