U.S. Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) have introduced the Allowing Greater Access to Safe and Effective Contraception Act, a legislative effort aimed at enhancing access to safe contraception for women and families while ensuring that taxpayer dollars are not allocated to fund abortions.

"I am proud to join Senator Ernst in introducing the Allowing Greater Access to Safe and Effective Contraception Act. This bill will support women and families while ensuring taxpayer dollars are not used to fund abortions," stated Senator Young.

Senator Ernst emphasized the importance of the bill in providing greater access to birth control options: "In the face of Democrats’ radical abortion on demand, I am proud to provide women greater access to safe and effective birth control. My bill will increase over-the-counter contraception options while bringing much-needed transparency and accountability to ensure the government uses tax dollars to support families."

The legislation has garnered additional support from Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W. Va.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), and John Cornyn (R-Texas). Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) is introducing companion legislation in the House of Representatives.
