André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, addressed recent developments regarding the government shutdown and healthcare subsidies in a series of posts on his social media account.

On October 5, 2025, Carson stated: "These expiring healthcare subsidies are not going to undocumented immigrants. It's misinformation—period. Republicans shut down our government and are refusing to save healthcare for 22 million Americans."

Continuing his criticism of Congressional leadership, Carson posted on October 6, 2025: "The majority party in Congress sets the voting schedule. House Republicans canceled votes for the entire week. They haven't scheduled a vote since September 19. Remember that the next time they try to blame the shutdown on Democrats."

Later that day, Carson highlighted the impact of the ongoing government shutdown on families and offered assistance from his office: "The government shutdown can have a real impact on families.
