André Carson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Indiana's 7th district, has been vocal on social media regarding his stance on several pressing issues. In a series of tweets, Carson outlines his opposition to certain policies and actions he attributes to the MAGA Republicans and former President Trump.
On May 14, 2025, Carson announced his decision to vote against the proposed budget by MAGA Republicans. He stated simply, "I'm voting against the MAGA Republican budget."
Two days later, on May 16, 2025, Carson elaborated on specific concerns regarding the budget cuts proposed by MAGA Republicans. He highlighted potential impacts such as "Medicaid – 14 million Americans would lose health coverage," along with reductions in SNAP benefits affecting households with vulnerable members like children and seniors. Additionally, he pointed out that scam protections were being cut shortly after Hoosier families fell victim to a phishing scheme. He concluded with a firm stance: "I’m voting NO."
Later that day, Carson addressed what he perceives as efforts by President Trump to undermine Black history through policy changes affecting civil rights protections and diversity initiatives. He expressed concern over attempts to alter representations of Black history in national museums and asserted "Black history is American history."
André Carson has served in Congress since replacing Julia Carson in 2008. Prior to this role, he was part of the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008.
