Marion County native Bryan Aung is gaining valuable experience as an intern at the Indiana Statehouse. Working with State Representative Bob Behning and other members of the Indiana House of Representatives, Aung joins the team during the 2025 legislative session.

Aung graduated from Perry Meridian High School and is the son of Andy Aung and Zin Myo. Presently, Aung is pursuing a degree in political science and international relations as a senior at Indiana University Indianapolis. He has plans to further his education at Johns Hopkins SAIS, where he will work towards a master's in international relations.

"This internship has given me the proper groundwork for a career in civil service, as well as a future in grad school," Aung remarked. "I've been able to make amazing connections as well as experience politics firsthand."

In his role as a legislative intern, Aung's responsibilities include corresponding with constituents through phone calls, letters, and emails, alongside participating in committee hearings and floor proceedings.

"This program is a great opportunity for students to work in a professional environment, make connections that could lead to future job prospects and learn more about the lawmaking process," Representative Behning commented. "Legislative interns like Bryan are important to ensuring the session runs smoothly."

The House of Representatives provides paid internship programs every year for college students, law school students, graduate students, and recent graduates during the legislative session. Those interested can find more information at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship.
