Legislation proposed by State Representative Beau Baird, a Republican from Greencastle, aims to provide students involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H activities with excused school absences. The proposal has recently been approved by the Indiana Senate and is now awaiting the governor's approval to become law.

Representative Baird stated, "4-H and FFA equip students with essential skills that prepare them for success beyond the classroom." He further emphasized the importance of the bill by saying, "This legislation ensures that students can fully engage in these programs while maintaining good academic standing."

Under the proposed legislation, students in Indiana can participate in up to six FFA or 4-H events per school year without being marked with unexcused absences, provided they maintain good academic performance.
