State Representative Kendell Culp's legislation aimed at improving access to agricultural resources in Indiana has been signed into law. The new law establishes an online hub designed to streamline access to information, grant opportunities, and data concerning lost farmland for Hoosier farmers.
The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) currently consists of five divisions along with various programs and initiatives. House Enrolled Act 1149, authored by Culp, intends to create a centralized platform for navigating state and federal agricultural resources, grant applications, regulatory checklists, and updated inventories on lost farmland.
"We rely heavily on the agricultural community that employs thousands of Hoosiers and contributes billions to the state's growing economy," stated Culp. "I authored this legislation in hopes of making it easier for farmers to find the resources and support they need to keep their farms thriving and this important tradition alive."
The portal will be maintained by the ISDA and will provide users with updates on agricultural reports as well as an option to offer feedback on services, regulations, and tools offered by the department.
