Indiana's Community Crossings Matching Grant Program has allocated over $3 million in state funding to local communities for road and bridge projects. State Representatives Jack Jordan and Jake Teshka announced the awards, which are part of a larger distribution of more than $200 million to 245 Indiana communities.

The program supports various infrastructure projects such as road reconstruction, bridge preservation, and intersection improvements. "We rely on safe and dependable roadways to get from place to place," said Rep. Jordan. "Strong infrastructure is critical to growing our local communities through new businesses and residents."

Indiana recently received recognition from Consumer Affairs as the top state for overall road conditions, highlighting low traffic fatalities and high-quality roads.

Local grant recipients include Bourbon with $45,367, Bremen receiving $456,656, Culver awarded $1 million, and Marshall County obtaining $1.5 million.

Rep. Teshka explained that smaller municipalities must match 25 percent of the funds locally while larger ones need a 50 percent match. Additionally, half of the available matching funds are designated annually for counties with populations under 50,000. Since its inception in 2016, Community Crossings has distributed over $2 billion for local infrastructure improvements.

"Whether it's work, school or running errands, we rely on our roads every single day," stated Rep. Teshka. "It's great to see these funds come to our communities for road and bridge improvements to support our residents and help attract economic development."
