Northwest High School alumnus Kenny Daniels is set to assist families in finding summer opportunities. As the Recruitment and Engagement Manager for Happy Hollow Children’s Camp, Daniels will participate as a vendor at the IPS Family Academy Summer Resource Fair, aiming to connect IPS students with enriching summer experiences.
The event is scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KIPP Indy gymnasium located at 1740 E. 30th St. It offers families the opportunity to explore various summer camps, internships, and job opportunities for teens. The fair is free of charge and will provide snacks, interpretation services, and resources on summer safety.
Daniels has personal experience with the impact of IPS and community programs and is committed to ensuring students have access to meaningful summer activities.
At the fair, he will represent Happy Hollow Children’s Camp, a residential camp in Brown County that has been offering outdoor experiences for under-resourced families since 1951. The camp caters to children aged 7-14 and is introducing a new Counselor in Training (CIT) program for ages 15-17 this summer.
“I know the importance of giving back to the community and showing kids who look like me that there are so many opportunities in this world,” Daniels said. “Summer programs like Happy Hollow get kids’ minds and bodies moving, providing a place where they can grow, thrive, and have fun.”
Families visiting the Happy Hollow booth can expect engaging activities, prizes, and information on enrolling their children in an unforgettable summer adventure.
According to Daniels, "For families looking to keep their children engaged this summer, the IPS Summer Resource Fair is the perfect place to start."
