Indiana's Community Crossings Matching Grant Program has allocated over $6.2 million to local communities in Hendricks County for road and bridge projects. State Representative Greg Steuerwald (R-Avon) emphasized the program's role in expediting infrastructure improvements, saying, "This program has helped communities across the state tackle important infrastructure projects on much faster timelines."
The grant program supports local projects such as road reconstruction, bridge preservation, and intersection improvements. This year, 245 communities across Indiana will receive more than $200 million in state matching grants.
State Representative Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) noted the significance of this initiative: "Hoosiers and visitors alike rely on our roads to safely reach their destinations." He attributed Indiana's top ranking for overall road conditions by ConsumerAffairs to programs like Community Crossings.
Hendricks County is among the beneficiaries with Amo receiving $23,912; Avon $1.5 million; Brownsburg $1 million; Danville $318,242; Hendricks County itself $1.5 million; Pittsboro $397,546; and Plainfield $1.5 million.
State Representative Craig Haggard (R-Mooresville) highlighted the impact of these investments: "Investing in our infrastructure is one of the best ways we can support local communities and prepare for future growth."
To qualify for funding, smaller municipalities must provide a 25 percent match in local funds while larger communities are required to match 50 percent. State Representative Becky Cash (R-Zionsville) mentioned that since 2016, over $2 billion has been awarded through Community Crossings.
"Local roadways connect families, friends, visitors and businesses to our communities," said Cash. She praised the collaboration between local and state governments to improve infrastructure.
