Indiana's Community Crossings Matching Grant Program has allocated $1.5 million to Adams County for local road and bridge projects, announced State Representative Matt Lehman (R-Berne). The program is designed to support local communities in road reconstruction, bridge preservation, and intersection improvements.

This year, the initiative will distribute over $200 million across 245 Indiana communities. "The Community Crossings Matching Grant Program enables us to meet our local infrastructure needs while strategically planning for the years ahead," said Lehman. He emphasized the importance of road maintenance and improvements for community growth and safety. "A well-developed infrastructure plan plays a critical role in attracting new businesses and residents to our thriving communities."

Indiana recently received recognition as the top state in the nation for overall road conditions by Consumer Affairs, highlighted by low traffic fatalities and high-quality roads.

For funding eligibility, smaller municipalities must match 25 percent of the grant with local funds, while larger communities are required to provide a 50 percent match. Additionally, half of the available matching funds are earmarked annually for communities within counties with populations of 50,000 or less. Since its inception in 2016, Community Crossings has granted over $2 billion for local infrastructure improvements.

Further details about the program and a list of grant recipients can be found at in.gov/indot/communitycrossings.
