U.S. Senators Todd Young and Pete Ricketts have introduced a resolution urging Germany, France, and the UK to initiate snapback sanctions on Iran. The proposed sanctions would include export controls, travel bans, asset freezes, and other restrictions targeting those involved in Iranian nuclear and missile activities.
"Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons threatens not only the stability of the Middle East but also the safety of the entire world," stated Senator Young. "It is time for our European allies to join us in sending a clear message that the international community will not tolerate the dangerous actions of the Iranian regime or those who enable it."
The resolution has gained support from several other senators including John Barrasso, Marsha Blackburn, Shelley Moore Capito, John Cornyn, Mike Crapo, Ted Cruz, Deb Fischer, Bill Hagerty, Jim Justice, Cynthia Lummis, Tim Sheehy, and Dan Sullivan.
A similar resolution has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Claudia Tenney and Josh Gottheimer.
Full details of the resolution are available online.
