Davis comments on HB 1041 advancement in education committee

State Representative Michelle Davis, a Republican from Whiteland and vice chair of the House Education Committee, issued a statement following the advancement of her proposed legislation, House Bill 1041. The bill was moved forward by the House Education Committee.

In her statement, Rep. Davis emphasized the importance of fairness in collegiate sports, particularly for female athletes. "Ensuring fairness in collegiate sports is essential to protecting opportunities for female athletes," she stated. She noted that biological differences can affect athletic performance and that this bill aims to maintain a level playing field.

Rep. Davis expressed gratitude towards her colleagues on the committee for supporting the legislation's progress. She also mentioned her anticipation for its continued movement through the legislative process: "I'm grateful to my colleagues on the House Education Committee for advancing this legislation, and I look forward to seeing it continue to move through the House."

Additionally, Rep. Davis highlighted that this state-level initiative aligns with recent federal actions under President Trump’s administration: "This legislation follows President Trump's recent executive order at the federal level."
