Elkhart legislators respond to supermarket shooting that killed three

Elkhart County legislators have expressed their condolences following a shooting at Martin's Supermarket in Elkhart, which resulted in three deaths, including the shooter, and left two police officers injured. The incident occurred on Monday, January 27, 2025.

State Representative Joanna King from Middlebury shared her sympathies with those affected by the event. "My heart goes out to the families affected by this tragedy. I hope we can come together as a community to provide relief and comfort to those who need it, and I encourage everyone to keep the victims and those affected in your prayers," she stated.

State Representative Doug Miller of Elkhart acknowledged the courage of local law enforcement during the crisis. "I extend my deepest condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy. We are greatly appreciative of the bravery demonstrated by local law enforcement who put their lives at risk to protect others," he said.

State Representative Tim Wesco from Osceola also conveyed his sorrow over the incident. "I grieve with my Elkhart community and those who lost loved ones in this tragedy. I'm deeply saddened by this traumatic event and will continue to pray for Elkhart and its citizens, and especially those law enforcement officers who were wounded," Wesco remarked.

The lawmakers' statements reflect a collective mourning within the community as they seek healing after such a distressing occurrence.
