André Carson, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana's 7th district, has voiced his concerns over recent actions taken by former President Donald Trump. On January 27, 2025, Carson criticized Trump's intention to end birthright citizenship through an executive order. "Ending birthright citizenship by executive order is unconstitutional, plain and simple," he stated, emphasizing that such a change requires congressional approval or ratification by the states.

On January 28, 2025, Carson addressed another action by Trump regarding federal financial aid. He highlighted that overnight Trump had ordered a halt on federal grants and loans previously authorized by Congress. "I’m fighting this blatant overreach of presidential powers that threatens school lunches, disaster assistance, & small business loans in every corner of our country," he asserted.

Later the same day, Carson shared a link to his full statement on these issues via Twitter. "Read my full statement: https://t.co/4aYtKGjuG5 https://t.co/ULSh3cTYIr"
