State Representatives Jake Teshka and Jim Pressel have been appointed to key committees in the Indiana House. These appointments, made by the Indiana House Speaker every two years following the November elections, will last for the duration of their terms.

Rep. Teshka, representing North Liberty, has been named chair of the House Financial Institutions Committee. He will also serve on the House Education Committee and the House Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee. "As the new chair of the House Financial Institutions Committee, I will use my previous experience as vice chair to listen and review commonsense legislation that benefits our communities," Teshka stated. He expressed enthusiasm about his role at the Statehouse.

Rep. Pressel from Rolling Prairie has been reappointed as chair of the House Roads and Transportation Committee. Additionally, he will be a member of both the House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunication Committee and the House Elections and Apportionment Committee. Pressel emphasized the importance of committee work in evaluating bills through public testimony and amendments. "Roads and infrastructure are essential to the development and growth of our state," he said. "I look forward to diving into these important topics and continuing to make Indiana roads working and safe."

The legislative session is set to begin on January 8th at 1:30 p.m., where lawmakers will gather for their first meeting in 2025. Residents can access iga.in.gov for information on legislation, schedules, and to watch meetings.
