State Representatives Matt Commons and Alan Morrison have been appointed to serve on significant House standing committees at the Indiana Statehouse. These appointments, made by the Indiana House Speaker every two years following the November elections, will be in effect for the duration of their terms.

Matt Commons, who was elected to his first term in November, will participate as a member of the House Local Government Committee, House Natural Resources Committee, and the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee. "Using the knowledge from my time as a local commissioner and in the military will help me contribute to these discussions that will shape Indiana's future," Commons stated. He encouraged constituents to reach out with questions and comments.

Alan Morrison has been appointed chair of the House Environmental Affairs Committee. Additionally, he will serve on the House Elections and Apportionment Committee and continue his role on the House Natural Resources Committee. Morrison emphasized the importance of committee work in vetting bills through public testimony and amendments. "Our state's natural resources are invaluable, and I'm excited to continue leading efforts to protect them while balancing economic growth," he remarked.

The legislative session is set to begin on January 8, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., where lawmakers will convene for their first day. Residents can access iga.in.gov for information on legislation, calendars, and live sessions.
