State Representative Matt Commons, a Republican from Williamsport, has been appointed to three significant House committees. These appointments come as Commons begins his first term following his election in November.

Commons will serve on the House Local Government Committee, the House Natural Resources Committee, and the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee. Reflecting on his new roles, Commons stated, "Using the knowledge from my time as a local commissioner and in the military will help me contribute to these discussions that will shape Indiana's future." He also encouraged constituents to reach out with questions or comments by contacting his office.

The Indiana House Speaker assigns committee appointments every two years after the November elections. These assignments last for the entirety of a member's two-year term.

The first day of the 2025 legislative session is set for January 8 at 1:30 p.m. Hoosiers are invited to visit iga.in.gov to access legislation information, view calendars, and watch committee meetings and sessions.

Commons also invites constituents to sign up for e-newsletter updates at in.gov/h13 to stay informed about Statehouse activities during and beyond the legislative session.
