State Representatives Stephen Bartels and Shane Lindauer, both from Dubois County, have been appointed to serve on significant committees in the Indiana House of Representatives. These appointments were made by the Indiana House Speaker following the November election and will last for the duration of their two-year terms.

Representative Bartels has been reappointed as chair of the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee. He will also serve on the House Courts and Criminal Code Committee and the House Public Policy Committee. Bartels emphasized his commitment to aiding veterans in their transition from military to civilian life. "As a veteran, I am always looking to continue our efforts to help Hoosier service members with a successful transition from active duty to civilian life, as well as helping all veterans," he stated. Bartels aims to work with Governor-elect Braun to establish an office of school safety under the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. He added, "I will also continue to reduce government and make our agencies more efficient."

Representative Lindauer has been reappointed as chair of the House Natural Resources Committee and will be a member of the House Roads and Transportation Committee. His focus remains on responsible stewardship of natural resources in Indiana. "My top priority as chair is for us to be great stewards of the land and natural resources we have been given," Lindauer said.

The first day of the 2025 legislative session is scheduled for January 8 at 1:30 p.m., where lawmakers are expected to gather at the Statehouse. Residents can access legislation details, calendars, and view committee meetings online at iga.in.gov.
