State Representatives Bob Heaton and Alan Morrison have been appointed to serve on significant House standing committees at the Statehouse. These appointments, made by the Indiana House Speaker every two years following the November election, will last for the duration of their two-year terms.

Bob Heaton, representing Terre Haute, has been reappointed as chair of the House Ways and Means Committee's Higher Education Subcommittee. Additionally, he will serve as a member of the House Financial Institutions Committee. Heaton stated, "Crafting a responsible budget that addresses our state's priorities remains one of my top responsibilities," emphasizing the importance of these committees in addressing major issues to ensure Indiana remains an attractive place to work and live.

Alan Morrison from Brazil has been reappointed as chair of the House Environmental Affairs Committee. He will also participate as a member of both the House Elections and Apportionment Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee. Morrison highlighted that these committees play a crucial role in reviewing bills through public testimony and amendments. "Our state's natural resources are invaluable, and I'm excited to continue leading efforts to protect them while balancing economic growth," said Morrison. He expressed eagerness to collaborate with stakeholders for Indiana's future.

The first day of the 2025 legislative session is scheduled for January 8 at 1:30 p.m., where lawmakers will convene. Hoosiers can access iga.in.gov for information on legislation, calendars, committee meetings, and sessions.
