Hancock County legislators have been appointed to serve on key House standing committees at the Indiana Statehouse. These appointments are made biennially by the Indiana House Speaker after the November election and last for the members' two-year terms.
State Representative Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) will be part of the House Environmental Affairs Committee, House Public Policy Committee, and House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee. "From public safety to economic development, these committees play a crucial role in shaping Indiana’s future," Criswell stated. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with fellow legislators and contributing on behalf of his constituents.
State Representative Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) was reappointed as chair of the House Judiciary Committee. Additionally, he will serve on the House Courts and Criminal Code Committee and the House Utilities, Energy, and Telecommunications Committee. "The judiciary committee will continue its work to ensure Indiana’s courts and criminal justice system protects public safety and all Hoosiers," Jeter said. As an attorney, he anticipates applying his experience to examine complex issues within these areas.
Newly elected State Representative Ethan Lawson (R-Greenfield) will join the House Elections and Apportionment Committee, the House Roads and Transportation Committee, and the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee. "These committees will determine our focus for the upcoming session," Lawson commented. He is eager to address important issues like improving roads, supporting veterans, and ensuring fair elections in Indiana.
