He marked the anniversary of the ratification of the 13th Amendment by expressing his support for legislative change: "In most states, slavery is still legal as punishment for a crime – including in Indiana." Carson announced his co-sponsorship of the Abolition Amendment bill led by Representatives Nikema Williams and Senator Jeff Merkley to address this loophole.

On December 7, 2024, Carson paid tribute to the lives lost during a pivotal moment in American history—the attack on Pearl Harbor. Reflecting on its enduring impact on national consciousness, he stated: "Today, we remember the attack on Pearl Harbor 83 years ago, which changed our nation’s history."
