The deadline for applying to the Indiana House Republican internship program is approaching, with applications closing on October 31. State Representatives Lori Goss-Reaves and Mike Karickhoff have emphasized the importance of this opportunity for students during the upcoming 2025 legislative session.
Goss-Reaves highlighted that the full-time internship will run from Monday through Friday at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, beginning in January and ending in April. Interns receive $900 biweekly and may earn academic credit through their respective colleges or universities.
“A House internship offers students a chance to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting,” Goss-Reaves stated. “As an educator and legislator, I see how beneficial this program is and highly encourage all students who are interested to apply before the deadline."
Karickhoff noted that college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates from any major are encouraged to apply by visiting indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before October 31.
"This internship is a great opportunity to not only get hands-on experience in a professional work environment but also could lead to a full-time job," Karickhoff remarked. "Many of our previous interns have gone on to be full-time staff at the House or in other government agencies, and I encourage students from our community to apply."
Interns benefit from free parking, career development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and eligibility for a competitive $3,000 scholarship for educational expenses.
The program provides opportunities across various departments such as legislative operations, policy, and communications.
Applications must be submitted online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship by October 31.
