The deadline for applying to the Indiana House Republican internship for the 2025 legislative session is approaching, with applications due by October 31. The program offers a full-time, spring semester internship from Monday through Friday at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. It will run during the legislative session from January to April.
State Representative Ryan Lauer (R-Columbus) highlighted that interns earn $900 biweekly and may receive academic credit through their educational institutions. "This internship is an excellent steppingstone to a future career in both the private and public sectors," Lauer stated. He emphasized its potential benefits for students' long-term careers.
State Representative Jennifer Meltzer (R-Shelbyville) encouraged college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors to apply by visiting indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before the deadline. "Internships give Hoosier students valuable opportunities to practice and hone their skills before moving into the workforce," she noted.
Representative Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) pointed out additional benefits such as free parking, career development assistance, and access to an Indiana government class. Interns can also apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship for educational expenses. "Having work experience on your resume can make a huge difference when applying for jobs," Lucas remarked.
The program allows students to work in departments related to their studies like legislative operations, policy, and communications. Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship.
