The deadline to apply for an Indiana House Republican internship during the 2025 legislative session is approaching, with applications due by October 31. This full-time internship takes place at the Statehouse in Indianapolis from January to April and offers a biweekly stipend of $900. Participants can also earn academic credit through their educational institutions.
State Rep. Bob Behning emphasized the value of this opportunity: "There have been so many interns who've used this program as a steppingstone to rewarding careers and elected office." He encouraged local students seeking professional experience to apply before the deadline.
State Rep. Julie McGuire highlighted that college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates from all majors are eligible to apply online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship. "Students can apply all sorts of classroom knowledge to this internship," McGuire said.
The program includes free parking, career development assistance, and access to an Indiana government class. Interns may also compete for a $3,000 scholarship for educational expenses. State Rep. Mike Speedy noted the critical role interns play: "House interns play an important role in ensuring the legislative session runs smoothly."
Interns will work in departments aligned with their studies, such as legislative operations and communications. State Rep. Chris Jeter stated: "Interns get to network with lawmakers, business owners and other professionals in the public and private sectors from around the state."
Applications must be submitted by October 31 via indianahouserepublicans.com/internship.
