The deadline for applications to the Indiana House Republican internship program is approaching, with submissions due by October 31. State Representatives Stephen Bartels and Shane Lindauer have emphasized the importance of this opportunity for college students and recent graduates.
Bartels highlighted that the internship is a full-time position during the spring semester at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Interns will work Monday through Friday throughout the legislative session from January to April. The role offers a biweekly stipend of $900 and can provide academic credit through participants' respective colleges or universities.
"The legislative session is a busy time for legislators and our staff," said Bartels. "Interns play a major role in making session efficient, which allows us to better serve Hoosiers."
Lindauer encouraged students of all majors—college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates—to apply by visiting indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before the deadline.
"The internship program provides many benefits including developing job skills like time management, critical thinking and writing," Lindauer stated. "It also offers a behind-the-scenes look at how state government runs and provides networking opportunities with state leaders."
The program includes free parking, career development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and eligibility for a competitive $3,000 scholarship for educational expenses. Internships are available in various departments such as legislative operations, policy, and communications.
Applications can be submitted online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship until October 31.
