The deadline for applications to the Indiana House Republican internship program is approaching, with submissions due by October 31. This opportunity is highlighted by State Representatives Wendy McNamara and Tim O'Brien, both representing Evansville.

McNamara, who has personal experience as a former Statehouse intern, describes the internship as a full-time position running from Monday to Friday during the legislative session in Indianapolis. The session begins in January and concludes in April. Interns receive $900 biweekly and may earn academic credit through their educational institutions.

"A House internship is a tremendous opportunity for young Hoosiers to use the knowledge they learned in the classroom and apply it to a real-world setting," McNamara stated. "As a former intern, I was able to put my skills to the test and build upon what I had already learned."

O'Brien encourages college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors to apply online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before the deadline. "No matter your college major, interning at the Statehouse can provide valuable experience and expand your network," he said. "Time is running out, so make sure to apply before the Oct. 31 deadline."

Internships offer benefits such as free parking, career development assistance, access to an Indiana government class enrollment, and eligibility for a competitive $3,000 scholarship applicable toward undergraduate or graduate expenses. Participants have opportunities across various departments including legislative operations, policy-making, and communications.

Applications are accessible online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship until October 31.
