The deadline for applications to the Indiana House Republican internship for the 2025 legislative session is nearing, as announced by State Representatives David Abbott and Chris Judy. The program offers a full-time, spring semester internship from Monday to Friday at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. The session runs from January to April.
Interns will earn $900 biweekly and may receive academic credit through their educational institutions. "Our communications, legislative and policy interns all have the opportunity to work with lawmakers and other state leaders, which can help them establish a professional network that could lead to future job prospects," said Abbott. He encouraged students of all majors to apply before the end of October.
Judy highlighted that the internships are an entry point for many young professionals in Indiana. "Statehouse internships are where many young Hoosier professionals launch their careers," he stated. The program is noted as a valuable learning experience and a strong addition to any resume.
Additional benefits of the internship include free parking, career development support, access to an Indiana government class, and eligibility for a $3,000 scholarship towards educational expenses. Judy mentioned that opportunities exist across various departments such as legislative operations, policy, and communications.
Applications can be submitted online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship until October 31.
