The deadline for applying to the Indiana House Republican internship program is approaching, with applications due by October 31. This announcement comes from State Representatives Cory Criswell and Lindsay Patterson.
Criswell highlighted that the full-time internship will take place during the spring semester at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. The legislative session runs from January to April, offering interns $900 biweekly and potential academic credit through their educational institutions. "As someone who spent years in education, I know how valuable internships can be for a student's personal and professional growth," Criswell stated. He emphasized that the internship provides skills and connections beneficial for careers in law, policy, or communications.
Patterson encouraged students of all majors, including sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates, to apply online before the deadline. "If you want to learn more about government and how public policy decisions in Indiana are made, this internship is a great place to start," she said. Patterson noted that participants could enhance their resumes and build confidence through this experience.
Interns will receive free parking, career development assistance, and access to an Indiana government class. They may also apply for a $3,000 scholarship for educational expenses. The program allows students to work in departments aligned with their studies such as legislative operations, policy, and communications.
Applications can be submitted at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship until October 31.
