The deadline for applications to the Indiana House Republican internship program for the 2025 legislative session is nearing, as announced by local lawmakers. Interested candidates have until October 31 to submit their applications.

State Representative Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) highlighted that this full-time internship takes place during the spring semester at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, running from January through April. Interns will work Monday through Friday and receive $900 biweekly. They also have the opportunity to earn academic credit through their educational institutions.

"Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of seeing many Statehouse interns go on to do great things in their careers," Barrett said. "This program is a rewarding opportunity for students to explore different professional pathways while building confidence in their skills."

State Representative Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) encouraged college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors to apply via indianahouserepublicans.com/internship before the end-of-month deadline.

"As someone who spent years in education, I know how valuable internships can be for a student's personal and professional growth," Criswell said. "Whether you are interested in law, policy or communications, this internship gives you the skills and connections that can launch you into a great career."

State Representative J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) noted that Indiana House internships offer benefits such as free parking, career development support, and access to an Indiana government class. Additionally, interns may apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship for undergraduate or graduate expenses.

"This internship is an experience students won’t find inside a classroom and a great way for them to learn how government works," Prescott said. "Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of the legislative process and apply today."

The program provides opportunities across various departments like legislative operations, policy, and communications relevant to students' fields of study.

Applications must be submitted online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship by October 31.
